Teaching Your Craft

From pitching class ideas, finding just the right venue, and filling your classroom, to developing a comprehensive syllabus or handy take-home sheets, teaching a craft is a skill of its own. Join Susan Beal, Jamie Chan, Moxie and Becky Stern for a panel on making teaching part of your living, as well as making and selling your own work. From schools to craft studios, shops, and events, there are many options for teaching both children and adults as a natural extension of your handmade business, and we’ll talk about the ins and outs of each one.

Susan Beal has taught crafts at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Church of Craft, Crafty Wonderland, Metropolitan Learning Center, and DIY Lounge in Portland, MAKE Workshop in New York, Maker Faire in the Bay Area, Felt Club in Los Angeles, and at her daughter’s preschool.
