Promoting Your Work in Print

Ever wonder how artist profiles, exhibition reviews, and topical articles end up in the pages of your favorite magazines? Whether you’re an artist, freelance writer, curator, or gallery/shop owner, this workshop will lay out some of the basic requirements for portfolio submissions and article pitches. Tips on how to present your work in the best way possible will include: writing cover letters and artist statements, crafting a catchy article pitch, putting together cds of your best work with quality images and preferred sizes, research techniques to maximize your submission potential, and thinking ahead to make the most of lead time—an essential aspect of publishing.

Marci Rae McDade is the editor of Fiberarts magazine [www.fiberarts.com], the world’s leading textile-art magazine in print for over thirty-five years.
